Abstract

Abu Sir Al-Malaq area is one of the most important cemeteries in the governorate of Beni Suef. It is located about 35 km from the north east of Beni Suef. It was named in the ancient Egyptian texts in northern Abydos to differentiate it from southern Abydos in Sohag. If that indicates anything, it indicates its great religious status as a center for the worship of the god Osiris. It has a great heritage significant, a group of cemeteries from different periods, it extends to about 650 acres.

It has a great heritage significant, and a group of cemeteries from different periods. It extends to about 650 acres. The methodology is descriptive analysis, where there are many burial wells in the area that are difficult to count, from the first and second dynasties, the Old kingdome, some of the tombs from the New kingdome, the Saiite, the Graeco Roman, the Coptic periods, also found the area traces of the Islamic period, the styles of burial wells varied between (wells lined with limestone from the Late Period, wells lined with clay bricks dating to the late period, tombs with a vaulted entertains from clay brick dating to the Coptic period, Rock-cut tombs, wells that start with steps). Also, there were remains of a temple to god "Ptah Sukar", under the ancient religious institute now, roman walls made of red brick over small blocks of limestone and there are 7 kilns.
